Google has unveiled its inaugural cohort for the Google for Startups AI Academy: American Infrastructure program, selecting 15 innovative startups poised to transform critical infrastructure using artificial intelligence.

The 12-week intensive programme, set to begin this autumn, will provide participating startups with mentorship, advanced AI training, and resources to scale their solutions for improving public systems and services across the United States.

The selected startups span a wide range of infrastructure challenges:

  1. Aquasight (Michigan) - Develops AI for real-time water and wastewater system insights.
  2. Citian (Washington, D.C.) - Enhances transportation safety through innovative technology.
  3. Cloverleaf AI (Colorado) - Keeps businesses informed on relevant government activity.
  4. Concrete.ai (California) - Optimises concrete mixing for infrastructure projects.
  5. CPNET (Pennsylvania) - Unlocks untapped physical capacity in factory production lines.
  6. Geolabe (New Mexico) - Measures organisational environmental footprints and identifies remedial actions.
  7. Ilmiya (Minnesota) - Personalised student learning journeys and optimises outcomes.
  8. Julius Edu (Massachusetts) - Matching job seekers with employers in the energy sector.
  9. Multiscale Technologies (Georgia) - Accelerates R&D in semiconductors, battery materials, and structural materials.
  10. Pathways (New York) - Helps material manufacturers understand and reduce environmental impact.
  11. Pharma Acuity (Connecticut) - Accelerates clinical trials and pharmaceutical product commercialization.
  12. Simerse AI (Missouri) - Provides infrastructure mapping for utilities and transit operators.
  13. Welfie (California) - Improves health outcomes for children in underserved communities.
  14. Whistle Systems (Missouri) - Enhances employee behavioural change in construction.
  15. Zordi (Massachusetts) - Develops autonomous greenhouse farms and agricultural analytics.

The programme, spearheaded by Google's People + AI Research team, will offer an intensive AI curriculum, advanced sales training, and go-to-market workshops. Each founder will be paired with a dedicated Google mentor and gain access to the global Google for Startups alumni network.

Google Public Sector initiated this programme to address pressing infrastructure issues such as power outages, air travel delays, and traffic congestion. The company aims to leverage AI in developing more responsive and accessible government services while tackling climate challenges.
