The State of California has announced an AI education initiative in partnership with NVIDIA, aimed at preparing students and educators for the AI-driven future.

Launched on August 9, this public-private collaboration seeks to support California's workforce training and economic development goals by providing universities, community colleges, and adult education programs with resources to develop skills in generative AI.

Amy Tong, Secretary of the California Government Operations Agency, emphasised the importance of the initiative: "AI will continue to become more advanced and more prominent in all sectors, and California has the responsibility to support and prepare our students and faculties."

The program will enable California educators to gain certification through the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute University Ambassador Program, offering access to high-quality teaching kits, workshop content, and NVIDIA GPU-accelerated workstations in the cloud.

Stewart Knox, Secretary of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency, highlighted the initiative's broad impact: "We want to train a workforce of the future, and also excite students and adults who are out of the workforce about opportunities for the future."

This initiative builds on NVIDIA's existing educational projects across California, including collaborations with San José State University and schools in the University of California and California State University systems. These projects span various fields, from biotechnology to advanced manufacturing and media.
