Google have unveiled a $10 million initiative today to help small businesses harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI), aiming to level the playing field in an increasingly tech-driven economy.

Lisa Gevelber, Founder of Grow with Google, announced the programme at the Annual America's Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Conference. "AI is rapidly changing how we live and work, offering opportunities for businesses of all sizes," Gevelber stated. "We're committed to making AI accessible and beneficial for small businesses nationwide."

The initiative comprises two main components. First, Google.org will provide $10 million in funding to America's SBDC to create "America's SBDC AI U," offering AI training and tools to small business owners. This programme will also establish AI Clinics at SBDC centers housed in universities and community colleges, where students will provide hands-on instruction to local businesses.

Second, Grow with Google is launching a new AI workshop to help small businesses leverage Google's AI-powered tools. This training will be incorporated into the broader AI U curriculum and is available for free at g.co/grow/AIforSMBs.

The initiative builds on Google.org's $75 million AI Opportunity Fund, which aims to help over 1 million Americans learn essential AI skills. Early adopters of AI in small business have reported positive outcomes, with 82% seeing improvements in productivity, sales, and decision-making.
