In a recent blog post Google examined the how and the way of their AI Essentials course, designed to help knowledge workers worldwide, understand and leverage AI technologies in their professional lives.

Google's Grow with Google initiative launched a comprehensive AI Essentials course, aimed at educating the global workforce about artificial intelligence and its applications. The course, developed through a cross-functional effort within Google, offers five modules covering AI basics, workplace productivity, prompt writing, responsible AI use, and staying current with AI advancements.

The AI Essentials course is designed for knowledge workers, targeting over 1 billion people globally. It is currently available in English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese, with more languages planned for the future. The course can be completed in less than 10 hours and requires no prior experience, making it accessible to a wide range of learners.

Incorporating practical exercises and hands-on approaches to theoretical concepts, the course has been beta-tested by partners from nonprofit, educational, commercial, and government sectors. This collaborative approach ensures the course's relevance and practicality across various industries.

The course launch coincides with Google.org's announcement of a $75 million AI Opportunity Fund to support workforce development and educational organisations in teaching AI skills to over 1 million Americans.

Anoop Sinha, Research Director for AI & Future Technologies, emphasised the course's goal: "We want to empower as wide a group as possible to work with these shifts — and to thrive."
