Meta and EssilorLuxottica have announced exciting updates to their second-generation smart glasses, the Ray-Ban Meta. Due to high demand, the companies are expanding the collection with new styles designed to fit more face shapes. Additionally, Meta is introducing new features, including video calling and updates to Meta AI, to make the glasses even more functional and user-friendly.
One of the most notable features added to the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses is the ability to share your view on a video call via WhatsApp and Messenger, completely hands-free.
In the US and Canada, Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses come equipped with Meta AI. By simply saying, "Hey Meta," users can control the glasses using voice commands and access real-time information.
A recent update to Meta AI introduces multimodal functionality, allowing users to ask their glasses about what they're seeing and receive answers or suggestions. This feature, now rolling out to all Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in the US and Canada in beta, enables the glasses to provide context-aware assistance based on the user's surroundings.
For example, when travelling and trying to read a menu in a foreign language, the smart glasses can use their built-in camera and Meta AI to translate the text for the user, providing the necessary information without the need to use a phone or stare at a screen.
