Mila has joined forces with Bioeureka, a startup in the field of AI-assisted pathogen identification. The partnership, announced on October 3, seeks to leverage artificial intelligence to rapidly detect pathogens, potentially transforming the landscape of microbiology and healthcare.

Bioeureka, founded in 2022, has developed an AI-based pathogen recognition solution for laboratories. The company launched its portable app in April 2023, which uses a smartphone or computer to quickly and accurately detect pathogens. This technology addresses the urgent need for rapid, reliable, and cost-effective pathogen testing in various sectors, including healthcare and the food industry.

Mohamed M. Diallo, co-founder and CEO of Bioeureka stated, "This partnership with Mila is a crucial step in our journey to revolutionise pathogen identification. Our AI-assisted technology addresses the urgent need for rapid, reliable and cost-effective pathogen testing in a variety of sectors, including healthcare and the food industry."

Stéphane Létourneau, Executive Vice President of Mila, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, saying, "AI holds enormous potential to drive the design, development, and deployment of solutions to improve public and global health. Mila is proud to welcome Bioeureka to its community of partners."

The partnership aims to make a substantial contribution towards addressing the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance. By improving the efficiency, cost, and accessibility of essential tools in the field of pathogen identification, Bioeureka and Mila hope to support public health and food safety on a wide scale.

Bioeureka's ambitious goal is to become the standard tool for microbiology laboratories worldwide, including in developing countries and remote areas.
