Mistral AI have announced a series of updates, aimed at making frontier AI more accessible and affordable for developers and businesses.

The company introduced a free tier for its serverless platform, la Plateforme, allowing developers to experiment with and prototype AI applications at no cost. This move comes alongside significant price reductions across Mistral AI's entire model lineup, with some models seeing price cuts of up to 80%.

The pricing update makes Mistral Large 2 the most cost-efficient frontier model in its class, with input token prices reduced from $3 to $2 per million tokens, and output token prices cut from $9 to $6 per million tokens.

In addition to pricing changes, Mistral AI unveiled an upgraded version of its Mistral Small model. The new Mistral Small v24.09, with 22 billion parameters, offers improved human alignment, reasoning capabilities, and code generation compared to its predecessor.

The integration of Pixtral 12B into its le Chat platform was also announced. This addition enables users to analyse and understand images within their personal or enterprise knowledge files for free.
