NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang joined Zoox CEO Aicha Evans and cofounder and CTO Jesse Levinson on July 31, to celebrate Zoox's 10th anniversary and discuss recent developments in autonomous vehicle (AV) technology.

During the discussion, Huang highlighted Zoox's unique position in the robotics industry, praising their sustainable approach to delivering robotaxis as a fleet. The conversation revealed key insights into Zoox's technology and market projections for autonomous vehicles.

Zoox's robotaxis are powered by multiple NVIDIA GPUs, which process real-time data from various sensors including cameras, lidar, radar, and infrared sensors. This advanced computing power is crucial for the vehicles' autonomous operation in complex urban environments.

"The world has never seen a robotics company like this before," Huang stated, emphasizing Zoox's innovative approach to autonomous transportation. One of Zoox's distinguishing features is its unique bidirectional robotaxi design, which optimizes both autonomous operation and passenger comfort. This design eliminates traditional car orientation concepts, potentially transforming urban mobility.

The discussion also touched on market projections for the AV industry. According to Guidehouse Insights, over 5 million robotaxis are expected to be deployed by 2030, with projections reaching almost 34 million by 2035. These figures underscore the rapidly growing potential of the AV market.

Zoox's progress in the competitive AV landscape is evident in its regulatory achievements. It is currently one of only six companies permitted to test autonomous vehicles without safety drivers in California.

As Zoox continues to advance autonomous transportation, its collaboration with NVIDIA remains crucial. The partnership combines Zoox's innovative robotaxi design with NVIDIA's powerful computing solutions, paving the way for next-generation autonomous vehicles that seamlessly integrate advanced onboard computing with extensive simulation capabilities.

The discussion between NVIDIA and Zoox leadership not only highlighted the technological advancements in autonomous vehicles but also underscored the growing importance of partnerships in driving innovation in this rapidly evolving industry.
