NVIDIA have announced the appointment of Ellen Ochoa, the first Latina astronaut in space and former director of NASA's Johnson Space Center, to its board of directors.
The appointment of Ochoa expands NVIDIA's board to 13 members. According to NVIDIA's announcement, founder and CEO Jensen Huang praised Ochoa's distinguished career: "Ellen's extraordinary experience speaks volumes about her role as a trailblazer and a leader. We look forward to her joining NVIDIA's board on our continuing journey to build the future of computing and AI."
Her appointment adds to her current corporate governance experience, which includes board positions at Service Corporation International, where she chairs the compensation committee and serves on the investment committee, and Mutual of America Financial Group, where she participates in the nominating committee and product and marketing committee.
Her groundbreaking career includes making history as the first Latina to travel to space and leading NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston as its director.
