As world leaders gather for Climate Week 2024 in New York City, NVIDIA is highlighting how its AI and accelerated computing technologies are driving energy efficiency and sustainability across industries.

Several NVIDIA customers have reported significant energy efficiency gains:

Foxconn, the world's largest electronics manufacturer, is using NVIDIA Omniverse to create a digital twin of a new factory in Mexico, estimating 30% annual energy savings.

Cloud computing services have seen dramatic improvements in energy efficiency. An e-commerce website achieved a 33x speedup and nearly 12x energy-efficiency improvement by switching from CPUs to GPUs for AI workloads.

In healthcare, the Wellcome Sanger Institute reduced run times by 1.6x, capital costs by 24x, and energy consumption by up to 42x using NVIDIA Parabricks software on DGX systems for genome sequencing.

NVIDIA is also nurturing a sustainability ecosystem. Its collaboration with the United Nations has trained over 14,000 data scientists on AI models for early flood detection. The Sustainable Futures initiative, part of NVIDIA Inception, now includes more than a thousand startups working on energy efficiency solutions.

NVIDIA reports that its platform has become 45,000x more energy efficient in processing large language models over the past eight years. The company is participating in various Climate Week events, including a Climate AI Summit with Salesforce and a Climate Science Fair showcasing startups using NVIDIA technologies.
