OpenAI has announced new partnerships with international news organisations Le Monde and Prisa Media. These collaborations aim to bring high-quality French and Spanish news content to ChatGPT users.

ChatGPT users will soon be able to interact with relevant news content from Le Monde and Prisa Media's publications, including El País, Cinco Días, As, and El Huffpost. Users will have access to select summaries with attribution and enhanced links to the original articles, and will be able to access related content from the publishers' websites.

OpenAI's COO, Brad Lightcap, emphasised the company's commitment to supporting journalism by applying AI technology and creating new opportunities for content creators: "In partnership with Le Monde and Prisa Media, our goal is to enable ChatGPT users around the world to connect with the news in new ways that are interactive and insightful."

For Le Monde, celebrating its 80th anniversary, the partnership with OpenAI presents an opportunity to expand its reach and maintain its commitment to providing accurate, verified, and balanced news stories at scale. Louis Dreyfus, CEO of Le Monde, highlighted the importance of collaborating with OpenAI to ensure their authoritative content reaches a broader and more diverse audience.

Le Monde has established itself as a digital media trailblazer, boasting more than 600,000 subscribers, 2.2 million unique daily users, and generating over 632 million monthly page views. Dreyfus views the partnership with OpenAI as a strategic move to disseminate reliable information to AI users while safeguarding the company's journalistic integrity and revenue streams.

Carlos Nuñez, Chairman and CEO of Prisa Media, sees the collaboration with OpenAI as a way to engage with their audience in a new way. By leveraging ChatGPT's capabilities, Prisa Media can present its in-depth, quality journalism in novel formats, reaching individuals who seek credible and independent content.

Prisa Media, the largest Hispanic media house, operates leading media brands in Spain, Latin America, and the USA, with a reach of over 7 million daily unique users and more than 1,650 million monthly page views. The company has also developed a strong presence in audio and video content, providing 90 million total listening hours and 51 million audio downloads per month, as well as generating more than 141 million monthly video views.

OpenAI's partnerships with Le Monde and Prisa Media, along with its collaborations with Axel Springer, the American Journalism Project, and The Associated Press, demonstrate the company's commitment to seeking out new content partnerships. The future relevance of LLMs hinges on their data.
