As of April 1, 2024, users can start using ChatGPT instantly without the need to sign up for an account. No joke.

ChatGPT already has more than 100 million people across 185 countries using the chatbot weekly. By removing the sign-up requirement, OpenAI aims to offer AI to the masses with minimal barriers to entry.

OpenAI has introduced additional content safeguards for the instant access feature. These safeguards include blocking prompts and generations in a wider range of categories. By default, OpenAI may use the information provided to ChatGPT to enhance the models for everyone. However, users can opt out of this through their settings, regardless of whether they create an account or not.
