Salesforce and Google Cloud have unveiled a significant expansion of their existing partnership. This collaboration aims to create Salesforce Agentforce Agents capable of operating securely across Salesforce Customer 360 and Google Workspace apps, including Gmail, Docs, and Slides.

The new initiative builds upon the existing bidirectional integrations between Salesforce and Google Workspace. It will allow mutual customers to deploy autonomous agents that can take action and work efficiently within the apps they use daily. These interactions will be backed by robust privacy and user data protections already established across both platforms.

Brian Landsman, Executive Vice President of Global Technology Partners at Salesforce, emphasised the significance of this partnership, stating, "We're creating the world's first agent ecosystem together with partners like Google Cloud. Humans work across many systems to get work done, and to be effective, agents need to as well."

Stephen Orban, Vice President of Partnerships at Google Cloud, added, "This partnership brings together platforms where millions of people get work done every day. Salesforce's Agentforce platform will help customers apply Google Cloud AI to real-world use cases, like business development, ecommerce, and much more – with enterprise-grade trust and accuracy."

The collaboration will enable customers to build custom agents with skills that span both Google Workspace and the Salesforce Customer 360 platform. These Agentforce and Google Workspace interactions are expected to be generally available later this year.

One key feature of this partnership is the ability of Agentforce agents to take action based on data in Google BigQuery without the need to move or copy data, thanks to integrations already available through Zero Copy technology.

The companies provided an example of how these new capabilities could be utilised. The Agentforce Sales Development Representative (SDR) Agent can engage with prospects around the clock, answering questions, managing objections, and scheduling meetings based on CRM and external data. With the new Google Workspace actions, the SDR Agent will be able to generate Google Slides and Docs from templates. Additionally, context from Gmail and Docs can be securely brought into Salesforce to update records and trigger workflows, such as saving a signed contract and closing an opportunity with a generated win-loss report.

Furthermore, the existing integration between Salesforce Data Cloud and Google BigQuery allows customers to ground their AI agents in Agentforce with data from both platforms. This integration enables higher levels of trust and accuracy in responses. For instance, ecommerce customers can use relevant information stored in BigQuery, such as data on purchasing, ad spend, and customer segmentation, to inform their Merchant Agent, which assists ecommerce merchandisers.

This expanded partnership between Salesforce and Google Cloud represents a significant step forward in the development of AI-powered productivity tools. By creating AI agents that can work across multiple platforms, the companies aim to streamline workflows and enhance productivity for their mutual customers. The Agentforce Agent Actions for Google Workspace will be generally available later this year on Salesforce AppExchange, marking a new era in cross-platform AI collaboration.
